They are normally used on load bearing structures, although adaptations have been made for metal deck roofs. The membrane is largely protected from weather, and stresses produced by structural and thermal movement. Mechanically fastened systems Mechanically fastened exposed membrane systems are an adoption of the loose laid principle, allowing maximum free movement of the membrane.
